Tips for buying food storage:

  1. Buy what you'll eat. Duh, but really, buy 1 of something you want to try. Don't go crazy and buy a year's worth until you know how to use and you know that you like it. Smaller (#10) cans are great for trying something out.
  2. Eat what you buy. Try to use what you buy in everyday foods. I use powdered eggs instead of fresh in baking. It's so convenient and there is no taste/texture difference.
  3. Time your buys. Try to keep a record of what price you paid, prices will change with inflation, but try to get the same price or better than the last. *Lee's Marketplace will give you the "caselot sale" price anytime if you buy a whole case.*
  4. Don't be afraid to buy store brand. The price is better and the taste comparable. With that said, if you like a certain name brand, wait for a sale, take coupons, and stock up! Better to enjoy what you're eating than throw away what you're not.
